There were definitely lots of good releases this year but if I were forced to limit my list and choose I'd go with the following:

The Sound Of Music

Avatar

Toy Story 3

Inception

Thanks in advance for your personal nominations.

I've watched my Evil Dead Blu-Ray and I'm trying to imagine what criteria you would be using to rank it in "Best Picture."

Picture Quality, it blows away ANY film sourced print this year (Rocky Horror is a close second) and for a low budget 16mm film to look more film like than Back to the Future shows how crap Universal really are

The Thin Red Line is not exactly my favorite movie of all time, but it really grew on me this year--the Criterion Blu-ray release is stunning in terms of picture, sound and supplements.

sound of music. that movie stunned me in PQ.

in terms of overal best quality not looking at the date when a movie was released, then it is Avatar for me.

PQ is just mindblowing.

AUDIO. my nod would go to avatar as well.
