MTX JACKHAMMER INFO LINK

* Carbon fiber and glass fiber dust cap with aluminum honeycomb center

* Expanded polypropylene cone with mica filler for reduced mass and increased stiffness

* FEA designed progressive roll spider with 10 AWG integrated tinsel leads woven in to allow for 2.5†of linear cone movement one way

* 900 ounce strontium ferrite magnet with extended magnetic field gap technology and aluminum shorting ring

* 6.5†voice coil with a flat wound, long-excursion design incorporating 2.5†of x-max and 17 AWG high temperature aluminum wire

* Aluminum heatsink to maintain the optimum voice-coil temperature

* 5,000 RMS, 10,000 peak music power

* 94dB sensitivity @ 2.83 volts

The JackHammer SuperWoofer represents excess in every way and this enormous subwoofer lives for high SPL and window shattering bass. But, the T9922 is designed for sonic quality, and high SPL, what we call SQL. JackHammers are shipped in either the SPL mode, with dual 2Ω voice coils, or as the SQL model with dual 4Ω voice coils. A replaceable cone assembly is also available, for switching between "every day" listening (SQL), and competition (SPL). Unlike traditional replacement assemblies, the MTX Audio Thunder9922 replacement assembly can be accomplished without removing the speaker from the enclosure. Fast, quick, and easy.

Still have yet to see a "full" spec sheet for the JackHammer, let alone MTX or someone else getting at least ONE JackHammer Dumaxed for true TSP's on both cone set ups for at least one driver.

Someone have TSP's on the Jack as I have not went looking after posting about it..?

Yes, it dose look big, mean, impressive and may actually be a HQ and certainly rather expensive woof..

But on the other side of things, as with most of these monster car woofs "of the past anyway", (Clarion, Audiobahn, MTX, & a few others), it could also make for a very expensive boat anchor. ;)

I would think that MTX learned from their last large sized woof mistake that certainly had to of embarassed them royaly..

Cheers ¥

Since the IASCA world finals haven't been in Dallas in awhile, I have no idea of it's quality.

Would it even fit on the DUMAX machine?

I can just see the crowds filing past: "Daddy...buy me one! Please!".

Looks neat. Sometimes that's all it takes.

Standing in at 23†tall, 320 pounds, and with 12,000 watt peak music power handling, you will be hard-pressed to find something that will get in the ring with this heavyweight.
Geez!

Sheesh, and people were bitching about SVS's group delay in the avtalk thread. At 22", that's gotta be one of the slowest subs for music ever.

When I was in the car stereo business one of the lines I rep't was Memphis Car Audio. They built a 32'' sub and at the time it was the biggest we had ever seen. You can buy these so called behemoth competition subwoofers, but they are really used as promotional items so that manufacturers can boast their technical expertise.

What about the Velo's DD-18 or the 1812, are they slow and not musical? Just because a sub's driver is big doesn't mean it will sound bad.
