I havent been on the forums for like 6 months or so. You know how much things change in that time.


I need a new DVD player for my hitachi. It does have a DVI input so that can be an option. What things should I be looking for? upconverting etc. My current one is junk. old sony from like 4 years ago!


oh yea, I want to keep the price to around $200-$300 I also make my own movies so I'll be playing DVD recorable discs.

In the 6 months you have been gone, the best way to see what is new, is still to simply look around and read a few threads.


You will see the scoop on the new lower cost Denon 2910 $650 MSRP, as well as the even lower cost Panny S97 $299 MSRP, which is not yet available.


All of the old options still exist for 480i/480p, as well as the cranky 1st gen DVI upscaling alternatives.


I stayed patient with my Panny RP-91, and just upgraded to the Denon 2910. I will test drive the S97 as well, when it becomes available, but the 2910 is very solid and produces great pictures on my HT1000.
