I'm trying to use my SRC2496 as a DAC for my Dish Network audio feed into my 2 channel stereo system using the only option, which is an optical cable. I'm getting the error LED and cannot figure out why? Is it possible that it's because the signal is a multichannel signal and the SRC2496 is stereo only? I was using an Entech Number Cruncher 205.2 which is also stereo, and it worked fine. What am I doing wrong?

The DISH box needs to be set to output PCM instead of Dolby Digital bitstream.

That was good advice, but I already had it set that way. Turns out it's a bad optical cable. When I jiggle it, it works. I switched it with another one and it works fine. I just bought that cable from Blue Jeans Cable so it's going to have to be exchanged.
