Bel Canto Digital Amp - Any body hear this one yet?

394 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  scottyb
It is a class "T" digital design but is different than the TacT, CAL, Wadia etc's. Class "T" is marketing vs true tech speak, but Bel Canto has a great rep and they are pretty proud of this thing, so...Has anyone had a chance to give a listen?

APM, are you out there/back yet? You are the one who gave the Bel Canto DAC-1 high praise, so I thought you might be hot to give this new technology a good testing.

We briefly spoke about it in http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/001170.html

Basically, it is definitely one of the very BEST amp in the world, with the very best from tube sound and SS power. If you have the chance, you should try to audition this jewel! Beware, I'd guess you'll buy one immediately http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/wink.gif

One little problem though, as was brought by Scott, is the somewhat limited power: should you have power hungry speakers then you might run out of power...

EDC is right, if your speakers are not power hungry you will buy this amp. The soundstage was huge and wide. When I first put it in my system I loved it, but just couldn't drive my power hungry speakers to realistic levels. I would definetly give it a try though. It is a great! deal.
