Excuse my ignorance, I'm just getting started with power conditioning:

What does the programmability give you?

Also... could I hook my subwoofer (250 Watt) up to either the PF40 or PF60? It specifically states not to hook it up to a power-strip...

Thanks,

Friedmud

The programmable outlets let you change which outlets become "active." These are known as switched outlets. This is a useful feature if you have multiple components that you want to switch on when you turn on your power conditioner. Additionally, when you shut off your power conditioner (just one button or triggered by another component shutting off) the switched outlets will also shut off by themselves. The delay option also lets you switch on specific outlets after a user selected interval (e.g. 5 seconds). Delayed outlets are useful for complex systems and to avoid the "popping" sound one often gets when components turn on. Programmable outlets are basically a way to turn on and off a bunch of components without having to physically hit their power buttons all the time. As for the subwoofer, go right ahead with connecting it to the power strip. Companies generally try and cover their butts by putting this warning on their products. If you were talking about a heavy duty amp, I would say don't. Amps draw a lot of power at high volumes.
