I was just wondering if the Dish 500 is any different from other 20" Echostar dishes? I heard something about it having more channels or something? Also, since everyone recommends it, i think it will be the dish for me, but i'm wondering if it will work for every Echostar receiver out there? I'm getting the 4722/4922, but i want a second cheap receiver for the old TV in my parents' room.

The Dish500 is a 20" dish that can "see" two satellite locations. The core programming for Dish is at 119 degrees. Some of the channels in the Top150 and some movie channels are on a satellite at 110 degrees. It is standard equipment with most Dish packages.

The Dish300 (18" dish) can only "see" one satellite location.

For a comparison, the DirecTV 18x24 eliptical dish can "see" 101, 110 and 119.

Echostar doesn't "NEED" that kind of Dish yet. AFTER the merger is approved, we'll see what will be required.
