My installer would like to install a Benq 8060 4K projector. I know very little
About the projectors.
Is this a decent projector
Is it comparable to a Sony 4k

It's very out of date now, so it unless it's very inexpensive I'd think twice about it. The BenQ HT5550 is probably a better projector.

Hi thank you for your quick

When you mean outdated do you think the technology or value isn’t there anymore. Should
Insticl
To the BemQ brand or go Sony
I would not unless you are paying less than $2,000. Anything more is not a good idea. I wouldn't pay more than $1,200 myself

It might be a bit sharper than the HT5550, but that's it's only advantage. The HT5550 supports 3D, newer HDR standards, and has a dynamic Iris and dynamic lamp dimming, along with with full DCI-P3 gamut support.

I don't know which Sony you're referring to, but the laser LG AU/HU810 is certainly worth looking at as it has similar install specs (lens shift and zoom ratio) to the HT8060 and certainly outperforms the HT8060.

You wouldn’t pay more for the Sony or benq? Could you advise what projector I should purchase, please and thanks
Depends on your budget for a projector

Do you have the ability to express the price which they would charge you for the projector?
I know in a dark treated room I would only put in a high contrast projector. Sony, JVC or minimum Epson UB. Don't know the details of your room so can't answer for sure my vote is for Sony.
