Hi,

My computer is having problems downloading the BENQ 8700+ manual from their website. I am about to order this projector but first need to know the min and max throw range of this projector for my 80" wide screen. I would GREATLY appreciate any help.

Thanks,

Tom

Use the projector calculator in projectorcentral.com. It will give you the kind of min/max distances you need.

Otherwise, I'm using an 80" wide screen too, 10ft from the pj. At this distance and image size, the optical zoom is about halfway between the min zoom and max zoom limits.

from page 10 of the manual:

80" width, 45" height: min. = 108.8", max.=132.8", offset = 64.8mm

minimum = 1.36 x width

maximum = 1.66 x width

offset = height x 1.44

Thanks for the help!

Paul,

Please excuse my ignorance but what is offset? Is it how much higher the center of the lens need to be above the top of the screen?

Thanks,

Tom

The offset is the amount the projector lens center has to be above the top of the viewable area of the screen (assumig ceiling mount inverted). Note that it is given in mm, so that must be converted to inches (25.4mm/inch). Basically you can take the height and multiply that by 1.44 to get the offset.
