So, I turned on my projector after about a month and it won’t show any video from any source. It looks like it is defaulting to 480p res and tries to show video but then loses signal. My setup is as below
  1. AVR Denon X3500h
  2. Video sources: Roku ultra (4k latest), Fire tv stick 4k and HD bluray player.
  3. Projector to AVR is via powered 4k fiber optic HDMI cable
None of these sources would show picture. I can hear stuff playing through my speakers but no video. I tried following
  1. Unplugged and restart sources, projector and AVR.
  2. Disconnect and reconnect sources hdmi as well as projector to avr hdmi
  3. Tried to force 1080p and 4k resolution since it was defaulting to 480p
  4. Switched off HDR.
Nothing seems to work. All of this was working perfectly earlier. Clearly I am missing something. Is factory reset only option here?

what happens if you connect the Roku direct to the projector, with a short HDMI cable?

I was going to say the same thing. Try another nonpowered hdmi cable.
So, I connected roku directly to projector and it worked. That pointed to issue with powered hdmi cable. So, I unplugged powered hdmi cable, unplugged power connecter to the cable, wait for 30s plugged everything back in and voila, it started working. I guess the powered cables I have are very delicate.

Electronics in general will deteriorate faster if not used regularly. Oxidized contacts where your most likely issue as sitting cool for months without the heating cooling cycle from normal use could have cause contacts to fail.
