BenQ PE7700 w/ XBOX 360

564 Views 7 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  basement
I finally bought an xbox 360 and hooked it up to my pe7700 via the VGA cable and set the xbox 360 to output in 1280x720.

The problem: The picture is shifted to the left about 6" and shifted down about 1" as seen in diagram 1 below.

diagram 1: An annoying picture shift

When I change the resolution in the xbox 360 to output 1280x768, there is no border on the right side, but still on the top.

I don't think there should be any border because my PC outputs 1280x720 and the screen is completely filled and I don't want to output 1280x768 because I want 1-1 pixel mapping.

Even with the original xbox, using component cables, there was also a slight border at the top and sides, but I have not yet tried the component cables on the 360.

I believe it's a problem with the pe7700, but not sure what to do about it. I have not yet sent it into BenQ for my firmware update, maybe that will fix it.

anyone else have a problem like this?

anyone got this problem fixed?

whoops diagram came out wrong.....but you guys get the idea!
That's strange. I have a xbox 360 hooked up via component cables to a benq pe7700 as well. Does this happen with all games including the xbox 360 dashboard? The only time I noticed the image not filling the whole screen was with nba2k6. It had a little bit of a border. I have the original firmware pe7700 from march 2005. I also have hooked up a pc to my projector without any problems. By the way, at least to my eyes, the vga cable seems to wash out the xbox360 image somewhat. The component cables seem better. The black level seemed a little bit higher with the vga cables.
Last night when I got home from work, I switched to the component cables and the image has no borders anymore and seems somewhat brighter; therefore, i'll return the vga cable over the weekend and use the component cables from now on.

The picture the xbox 360 outputs now is truly breathtaking.
Glad to hear you worked things out aerospace. The 7700 and the 360 are a good match in my home:) Component video for me and the picture is outstanding.
I'm glad to hear you found a combo that works, but my guess would be that you could have adjusted overscan or something to that effect in the service menu.
Hi Guys,

I was considering the Benq 7700 for my movies and xbox gaming. But I was afraid of the problems of bulb problems.

Have you guys had any problems yet?

Thanks, BK

We're all kind of nervous about it because it's too early to tell. However, it has been quiet for the last couple of months. It's been so quiet I don't think about it much anymore and I'm just enjoying using it.
