Benq W1000 projector

1608 Views 4 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Jim McC
Has anyone here calibrated the new Benq W1000 projector? I just got it yesterday, and I'm trying to set it up the best I can. There are choices for gamma: 2.2, 2.4, 2.6, 2.8. Which would be best? I noticed gamma changes the brightness of image. What else does it do? Are there any specific settings you recommend? Thanks.

a good thread to read about the merits of copying numbers. Doesn't work.

If you only want to do numbers, go to the projector forum area and copy numbers until you are blue in the face.

If you are serious about getting a better image, you will need a test disc at minimum and you have to follow the instructions and they will start you off on the road to a better image.

We are here to help you if you still have difficulties.

Maybe I wasn't specific enough, but I never said I want to "copy numbers". By "specific settings", I meant preferred settings for this projector(gamma, color temperature, etc). In layman's terms, what does gamma do? Thanks.

Color temp to warm. Gamma to something between 2.2 to 2.6 ... 2.5 or 2.6 had been good settings on the previous W5000 ... always less than what it says it is.

To figure out exactly where it lies ... you need instrumentation to measure it. Crappy gamma flattens an image out. No sense of depth.
