Well, here I am, I spent $600 to extend the wall in my new family room to support surround speakers, which now I don't think I need the room...

I "break in" as they build and, I must have mis-read the plans. I have 10ft from wall to wall, probaly 8ft from couch to wall.

So I think a 50" may be too big (yes/no)?

So if that is the case, what does everyone think the best 42" is out there.

There is the Pioneer Kuros 950 or the Panny commercial. None are 1080p, I know it really doesn't matter, but..ya...best toys, and all that.

I welcome everyone's thoughts..

or...do I keep my 42" there and put a new flat panel in the bedroom which is about 11ft from the wall...

Thanks!

You can go with the 42PZ800U. However, I would prefer the 50PZ800U as an ideal choice for space and size of the room it will be placed...

Actually at your distance i do think 1080p matters. I sit 8 feet from my 42" PZ700U and the higher resolution definitely makes it look a lot better than my former 720p set.

In your case, a 50" 1080p set would probably be ideal in your living room (like a Kuro 5020HD or a 50PZ800U), or maybe a 46" PZ800U if you don't want that large of a screen. But i'd go with one of the two 50" 1080p sets i listed

Then move the old 42" to the bedroom where the lower resolution doesn't really matter. Win-Win.

so TH-50PF10UK then?

The Pio looks so tempting, but sooo much more $$$

Nahh...I would go with the 50PZ800U. Comes with more inputs, speakers, stand, etc...You can not adjust picture controls, like the PF and PH series, but the picture quality should look similar, but black levels, would be given a slight edge to the 50PZ800U.

Chris

Only problem is I don't need speakers, I have enough inputs with my 428UK, I cannot see needing anything more without removing something first...

I don't think you can remove the speakers from the 50PZ, right?

Get 1080p and get 50". If you decide and get 42", i would still get 1080p. I love 1080p and i see the difference. My plasma is 50" but i think i could even see it in 42".

I have a cousin wanting a LCD or plasma and i have suggested 50" and they do want 1080p. They think they want 42" and could anyone in here give me the model that sound and vision reviewed by Phillips that was 1080p and 42" was rated very highly? I am giving them a list of 42" maybe they should look at and even lcd's and no i wouldn't have a lcd but that is just me, when i have plasma as a choice. They liked the Phillips for price vs quality. I am going to mention these Panasonics also.

You will regret a 42".

Go for a 50" 1080p, now well under $2k.

All 1366x768 (720p) will disappear in a year.

You may regret a 50" when the 58" and 65" plasmas become more affordable.

Fanaticalism,

I'd love to, but Pio is the only TV I cannot get a really good deal. Something about being a reseller gives me great prices to everything...but Pioneer

now the new question is, do I wait for the 11UK?

I'd wait for the TH-50PF11UK (1080p model).
