I'm looking for a 43" 4K TV for movies and gaming. Any recommendations?

Edit: Basically, the TV cannot have a horizontal width wider than 40".

The Vizio V436-G1 I own is a decent 43 inch TV for the price. Another decent recommendation I got is the Samsung 43Q60R QLED although somewhat more expensive.
I would have also suggested either the LG 43UM7300 or the Sony 43X800G but since both of them are IPS panel based, I'm not sure if those are for you or not.

Lg 43um7300

I second the LG 43UM7300 recommendation. I just got that exact TV in mid-August after doing a bit of research. Very happy with it. I have a PS4 connected to it and it looks great.

How are sports on the LG 43um7300? Does the picture have enough punch for you? Any other comments on this set. Thanks for any info.

Rtings best 43 last year was the Vizio E series. The Vizio M series this year is soon to come out in a 43 It should be much improved over last years E with a widescreen color gamut and supposedly slightly wider viewing angles.
