I was really hoping to get a XBR6 but the prices have shot up as of late. I hear that Samsungs have noticeable lag but not sure if that is true or not. Any suggestions for both 360 and PS3 gaming?

How is the KDL52W4100 or another brand altogether?

I have the KDL52-W4100 and play a lot of Xbox 360 games on it.

It does a good job handling motion and lag and looks great in 1080p.

I am also interested in this topic - can someone comment specifically on the samsung LCD lines, specifically LNXXa650, 750, and 850?

I'm wondering as well. I'm shopping for a good 120hz model 52". I've seen the KDL52W4100 and I was really impressed. A friend of mine has one and the games seems to display properly without any artifact. I've seen the 750 at the futureshop, but no console was plugged. But it seems a nice choice as well. So, I cannot really tell. Any other good model to add to this thread?

I did not see this thread when I stated mine this afternoon, this is the same kinds of questions that I would like to find out answers to also. I am leaning towards the XBR6 but it is almost $700 dollars more than the W4100.

I really never heard of this gaming lag except on this forum.

If it makes anyone feel any better about the samsung line, Every Best buy I have been to (which is at least 4) uses ln46a650's and 630's in their gaming section to display the newst rockband/guitar hero. They definitely wouldn't have those running THAT type of game if lag were an issue on those models.

Here's a thread I started a few months back on the same topic. I was between the Sony KDL-52W4100 and Samsung A630 (no glossy screens!) and between the two decided to hold out for the Sony. It has an adjustable Game mode unlike the Samsung. Plus the tv's sound is better from what I heard at Circuit City, and this forum reported lower input lag on the Sony also.

BUT, I am trying to cap my budget for TV + stand at $2k, and unfortunately the Sony 52W4100 has not dropped low enough even around Black Friday. (CC had a deal on the 46" but not the 52"). Like you said, prices have gone back up as of late, so I'm now hoping the 52W drops again when the 2009 models start rolling out. I keep an eye on Amazon, Fatwallet, and Slickdeals daily, and Best Buy/Circuit City weekly. Still waiting...

Check out the toshiba 52xv545u. It has a game mode that is supposed to address the lag. I havent used it but read positive comments about it. It also has many other features that make it an excellent value.

I was very close to buying the W4100 but they're now discontinued and harder to find.

The V5100 is starting to sound much like the W4100. I'm not sure what makes the W5100 stand above the V5100. In the 4100 series the W was the start of the 120hz and motionflow features. But now that can be had in the V5100.

Amazon's quick comparison between the models states that the W5100 series has the 'Internet Video Link' built-in, while the V5100 does not.

I'm sure there's more than just that one difference, though.

I did like the V5100 but the bulk of the inputs being on the side and auto dim issue have almost ruled it out for me.

W4100 has auto dim too. So then I'm not sure why you would have been looking at that model as well. Personally the autodim is a non issue. And I think it is very much a personal issue. I would test the line out and see if you notice it (kind of like Rainbow effect of DLPs - some saw and others didn't).

But the side inputs would turn me off too.

It looks like the Samsung B650 line is out as well. This is a piece from a review of the UK equivalent of the B650.

The Samsung LE40B650's impressive video processing comes at a price unfortunately, and it's not good news for avid gamers. We measured the input lag on the LE40B650 to be around 84ms to 100ms slower than our resident Samsung F96 LED-backlit LCD TV (which had [Game Mode] enabled), which is almost as bad as the Philips 37PFL9632D (the worst in our database of reviewed HDTVs). Rock Band was basically unplayable unless we compensated for the input lag via the in-game calibration menu

that was out of game mode, I know for a fact that the B650's are about the same as the A650's in game mode around 30 ms lag witch is about as good as your going to find on most TV's

heres a thread where a member on this forum tested a B650 vs a A750 for lag
