Best audiocard for Gaming via Headphones?

933 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  DeltaDeuce
I'm looking for some headphones to play some very positional audio intensive games, mainly First Person Shooter, specifically Counter-Strike Source.

They'll be hooked up to on-board eVGA 680i-A1 audio for the time being. If you would perhaps share your set-up or give me a simple recommendations to great headphones for gaming. Surround sound isn't that important I'll mainly just be using headphones and playing back 2-channel music.

My interest is in clarity and accurate representation. So headphones or good soundcard for the headphones, anything to help out. Thanks.

I run a X-Fi XtremeMusic card with Razer Barracuda Headphones .

I couldn't be happier with my setup. It gives me true surround sound while gaming.
I use an ESI [email protected] soundcard, headphone amplifier and a pair of HD650 sennheisers. The synergy with css is excellent.

Good quality stereo reproduction is the way to go imho, surround is not needed.

Those cans look sweet. So you have to plug it into a USB port (for powering the amp I'm assuming) and 5.1 audio jacks on your sound card?
