To get much better you're talking Denon 3910 or 5910. XP50's are very highly regarded, and in order to do better it's going to cost some serious coin. Having said that, if you do decide to upgrade, I'd be glad to buy that XP50 from you.
Someone in the emergency upscaling thread gave these recomendations for the Faroudja:

Samsung DVD-HD941 for 720p and Zenith DVB318 for 1080i.

I don't know what the xp50 looks like but the 941 does a solid job on my DLP. You can find refurbs on ebay. You can find new and refurb units of the Zenith on ebay as well.
I agree with bri270. If you really want to see a difference to make the upgrade worthwhile, you're talking about the 3910 (it's not worth it to trade the Sammy or Zenith for your Panny, IMO).
He needs DCDi upconversion via COMPONENT connection. Denon 3910, 2910, 1910, 1920 do not allow upconversion via component--HDMI only. For 480p DCDi via component, it's hard to beat XP30 (RP82 with better loader). For upconversion DCDi component, you're stuck with hacked (angle, 4, 3, 2, 7, angle) Samsung HD931 or HD941 or Zenith DVB-318. For non-DCDi upconversion (second in PQ IMHO) component, you can go Neuneo HVD-2085 or Momitsu v880n.
