I have a Harman Kardon DVD 30 and sometimes, while initially reading a DVD and I think also CDs, it makes a clicking sound. It also, however rarely, gives me a "disc error" message. This is with perfect DVDs and CDs, no scratches. But once a DVD or CD is read, it works flawlessly.

Can anyone recommend me some good DVD player lens cleaners? Do they even work?

A simple Q-tip? Do I have to use any lens cleaning fluid/liquid too or can I use a dry Q-tip?

I haven't cleaned a DVD player, but have cleaned a few CD players, same thing though. More often than the lens being dirty, the rails have been the problem.

Clean the lens with a Q-tip and alcohol, or lens cleaner, very gently. Q-tips leave fibers, so I then use a camera lens brush and blower to remove that.

After that, clean the rails the same way, and apply a very thin film of lubricant to the rails. I've used everything from lithium grease to WD40, don't spray it, apply it with a clean Q-tip. You want a thin lubricant, nothing too thick, or it will impede the movement of the laser sled.
