I am a newbie to the forum, and have not built a HTPC, but I'm trying to learn as much as possible before I build. I plan on a server with clients in different areas of the house. I have anydvd hd and have used it to burn sd dvd and have ripped a few bluray to iso.

Queston is, what is the best format for streaming, or does it make a diiference? Upsides and downsides to ripping to a particular format? I would prefer to stay with an uncompressed format.

depends on what you are streaming to.

for instance an xbox wont play dvds ripped to video_ts folders, and will give you trouble with mkv, it plays nice with dvr-ms, but a lot of other devices don't.
