For something that I've seen and heard, the VTF-3 MKII in rosewood is my choice.

You might want to look at the Legacy sub also. I have not seen, heard and don't know the price tag.

ACI Maestro, SVS PB12/2 Ultra, SVS B4, maybe Martin Logan Descent
You would buy a sub because of how it looks, and not how it sounds?????

Frank Lloyd Wright: Form follows function........

You should be asking: "what great performing sub looks good" I would think, unless you want all show, and no go!
The JM Labs subs are what I would call "furniture grade". On more than one occasion I have heard "Oh, what a nice looking end table." You should see their face when I tell them it is my sub. It sounds good too.

Looks to me like that IS what he's asking...
joeycalda,

While I'm a firm believer in looking at a sub's performance before its looks, I understand the desire for aesthetically pleasing subwoofers (and, depending on one's SO situation, the requirement). A question you will want to ask manufacturers making "furniture grade" enclosures is whether they are using real wood veneers or vinyl veneers made to look like wood ("furniture grade" can be a subjective term used by marketers to describe their products no matter what the construction).

You've already received some good recommendations - here's one more.

My wife was not happy that I was going to bring a sub into our TV room. I got my Onix UFW-10 and she 100% changed her mind. "Oh, looks great!"

I bought it for the sound, but the looks helped me maintain my marital bliss.

**********, a fairly popular sub. Roughly a 12" cube, 10" driver, extends easily to 30Hz with reaches into 25Hz but will never hit 20Hz. $600. The pictures do not do it justice, it is much better looking than any furniture I own.

As far as 'furniture quality' subs go...I'd take a good look at Legacy Audio. All of their stuff has excellent craftmanship. I have an SVS and Legacy Powered Impact sub (golden oak) and is it readily apparent which is the more 'furniture' like. But, it is also far more expensive so you get what you pay for (if you lucky). Just my two cents...
Texas42,

Which SVS do you have? One of the black ones, or one of the wood finish models? I have a PB12-Ultra/2 in the Mercury Red (no longer offered, but new wood boxes will be coming) and it is one of the most beatiful pieces of furniture I've ever seen.

I'm in the process of switching out a black textured PB12-Ultra/2 for a Cherry unit. I just can't imagine how nice a big block of Cherry is going to look. My expectations are quite high and looking forward to my first wood finish unit from SVS.

I also have a Maestro on order, but it will be in Arch Black. I still think it will be a somewhat good representation of what ACI has to offer though.

Simplesetup> I checked out your link and the Legacy offerings do look interesting. The Piano gloss black top on the HSU has always been a nice looker to imo.
I have a Definitive Technology SuperCube I that has a piano black gloss top, very sweet looking.
