Any recs on recorder mainly for editing many short digital video clips from digital camera. I want to edit and create smooth transitions into one lengthy movie onto HD and dub to dvd-r or rw. Also want fast dubbing at best quality video setting. Thanks.

AFAIK, there is no standalone HDD/DVD recorder that will allow you to create smooth transitions between chapters / titles (diferent video clips).

Hope that helps (althouh it probably doesn't !)

I agree. Sounds like PC editing is what you're looking at!

Well, let's see. The Panasonic E85comes about as close as any to clean edits. The E85 allows seemless playback, assuming proper options set. The "Gotcha" is that -r high-speed copies have that cursed freeze at each edit point.

The work-around for that is to dub to the -r in real time, or for multiple copies, real-time dub to -ram, then high-speed copy the -ram back to the hdd. Now you can high-speed dub to the -r's.

Or, edit on the pc, an art that after three years I have not yet learned.
