I am building a home theater in my basement that will be finished in the next 2 weeks and would be very interested in any recommendations on a set of speakers

DETAILS:

Room: 14' x 17', ceiling 8'

Screen: 92 ''

Projector: Optoma H77

Max Budget for Speakers/Receiver: $2500

I'm thinking a 5 speaker system + subwoofer.

I've had klipsch in the past but would be open to anything.

Thanks,

Geoff

Geoff,

I have my speaker budget at about the same as yours. My room dim's are 13'x13'x7'8". I am going to do the money back guarantee through Aperion Audio.

I have never had good luck with hearing speakers in a store room, then getting the same sound out of my HT. So, I will get the speakers delivered to me & demo them, then return if not satisfied.

The 5.1 Bookshelf System offered by Aperion is $1299 with an 8" sub, which will leave you more wiggle room for a Great receiver to drive them.

There have been lots of positive reviews on these setups, hence my decision to give them a try.

Good luck.

Thanks for the note. I'm thinking I'll try them out for the 30 days.

Geoff: BIC America: DV62clrs center; DV62si for fronts & surrounds. SVS PB10isd Subwoofer. Yamaha HTR5890 Receiver. A SUPERB system for under $1700 total. No mods. needed on the BIC's as some have done. Good luck.

At least you can admit it. And admitting it is the first step towards recovery. :D

 You have many choices.

For speakers you can try
http://www.ascendacoustics.com/
http://www.**********/
http://www.axiomaudio.com/

For subwoofers you can try
http://www.hsuresearch.com
http://www.outlawaudio.com/
http://www.svsubwoofers.com/
http://www.velodyne.com/main.aspx

just to name a few. As you start looking around you will find more and at some point you will figure out what features are important to you. Take your time it's your money. None of the brands are going away any time soon.

I am a happy owner of the Ascend 340s and HSU VTF3 MK2 stuffed into a room that is 16' x 14' x 8.5'.

good luck

For a set of speakers under 2k with a money back guarantee I would reccomend any of the packages from axiom audio. There speakers get great reviews and sound awesome.
