I'm looking for a 5.1 HTIB for around ~700. The catch is I am hooking this up to my computer via HDMI. Custom (non-HTIB) is possible.. however I don't want huge speakers, because they need to sit around the computer.

Any suggestions on which to get?

What's this for? Do you want to listen to music, movies, or both?

Gaming and Music.

I have a dedicated home theater room that has much (MUCH) better speakers in it.

I'm looking at this, then just buying the receiver/sub seperately. I've been very happy with klispch speakers, and this company offers free shipping and the price on their speakers is far lower than others. (These speakers cost around $1,000 elsewhere)

Just checking…I don’t want to suggest some small speakers if you’re going to use them for music. How do you like the Klipsch Cinema 10? I never knew about them before but the specs look pretty decent and the price is good.

My only concern for you is that small speakers aren’t very good for 2 channel music and larger speakers are considerably more expensive. I don’t know about you, but I get annoyed with 2-channel music matrixed through all 5 speakers. I usually prefer 2 channel music to be through a pair of speakers. What are your thoughts about that?

I will say this – I tried a lot of small speakers and the Mirage Nanosats I had were pretty OK with 2 channel music matrixed into all 5 speakers. The omni design kind of made me feel like the sound was everywhere…it was like the music was just there; not exciting but not annoying. I also tried the Omnisat V2 series and they were much better because they’re bigger speakers that sound deeper, the Nanosats sounded thin by comparison.

The Omnisats aren’t available anymore but how about Mirage Omni 150s? http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/it...irage-omni-150

Are they too big?

Along with the center speaker: http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/it...rage-omni-c150

it should be around $300. Add a sub for about $200 and a $200 receiver and you have about $700. Am I on the right track?

I will (usually) listen to my music via my home theater speakers in the other room.. which are Klipsch RF-82s, and insanely higher quality than what I'm looking at now.

These are (mostly) for gaming. So i'm not to worried about 2-channel music. I like the sound of Klipsch speakers, and always have. So I prefer to stay with Klipsch. I've basically decided on the set I linked above.

OK, this looks pretty good: http://www.overstock.com/Electronics...1/product.html

Shipping comes to $3 for me and it come with a great subwoofer. The speakers are small enough (but not tiny) and are in the same vein as Klipsch. I know you can find an amp for $250 easy. I'd think it would knock you socks halfway across the room.

EDIT: Oops, I read your #3 post wrong. Looks like a good choice for your needs.
