best interlaced player?

316 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  RedBaronF2001
Is there a player that beats the Denon 1600 for audio and video quality for DVD in interlaced that similarly priced??

I´m wondering what player would be best to get SDI modded.

Unless you have a analog TV, why fool around with interlaced, if you have a HDTV?

I have 4 players 2 interlaced from years ago and 2 progressive scan on my RCA F-38310 wide screen HDTV. Try the AVS search engine on the right side of your screen. :)
I´m planning on getting a plasma, which would have a built in deinterlacer not of less quality than a dvd deinterlacer. And so the ideal way would be to get the DVD player SDI modded (which only outputs interlaced). So paying for a progressive scan dvd player would be a total waste of money.

Thats why I´m wondering if there are any very good interlaced players with good build quality, great sound and picture and ideally no chroma bug???
You might look at a used (since it's out of production) Pioneer Elite DV-09. Many A/V magazines use (or have used) this player as their "reference" dvd player/transport. It has awesome build quality and the picture and sound are right inline.

I know, it apparently has the "chroma bug", but frankly I have the DV-05 which has similar internals (and hence the "bug"), but I couldn't for the life of me find it in any materials I threw at it. Maybe I should be watching my 47" 16:9 with a magnifying glass? The scenes in TFE where it is supposed to be prevalant - well I cannot see it on my calibrated tube.

Anyhow, you should check out this piece.
