Hi,

I'm looking for a server *primarily* to show random slideshows in the style of the Windows XP slideshow screensaver. WinXP's screensaver is great for me because I can point to My Pictures, and even though there is a very deep folder structure there, the randomization goes completely through whatever folders are there.

I looked at the manual for the WD TV Live, and although it has a Random mode, there's no indication that it will go recursively through all folders under the one you point it to.

So that's my primary requirement. A *really* nice to have would be if there are video files included with the photos, the slideshow would include them in its randomization and play a video from time to time.

What media server would you suggest? BTW, the device needs to be one of the dedicated media servers, not a HTPC, because what I'm trying to do is to have a wall-mounted HDTV act like a huge digital photo frame -- there's no room for a HTPC.

Thanks!

We use the WDTV for slide shows on a KIOSK located in a main hall.

The WDTV allows for continuous looping on single and multiple folders.

Our slide shows are .mpg and .mov. It loops both sequentially.

Obvously the slide shows and videos are created on a computer, we take

the finished product and load it on a flash drive, plug it into the WDTV and play it.
