I want to save programming on my DirecTV Tivo unit, and burn it to DVD. I am thinking of purchasing a Toshiba RD-XS52. Can I connect the Toshiba RD-XS52 to my DirecTV Tivo, transfer the program, edit out the commercials, then burn it to DVD?


Is this the best method, or can you recommend an easier or better way?

I think you will have to "redub" the shows in real-time from the DirecTivo to the Toshiba. You'll want to connect them with a S-Video cable. If the IR blaster with the Toshiba recognizes your signal, you could apparently run the satellite directly into the Toshiba preventing the "redub" step albeit without Tivo's functionality.


Right now I'm planning on having the same setup (DirecTivo and Toshiba recorder).
