In today’s hyper-competitive headphones market, there's no need to spend hundreds of dollars on a pair if you don’t want to, especially when there are lots of choices for best noise cancelling headphones under $100.

Whether you need a pair for comfort on long flights, to block out the din of traffic as you walk through the city, or to reduce the background hum at the office, there are tons of options. To help you find the right pair, I’ve compiled a list breaking down the details on some of the best noise cancelling headphones under $100!

I’ve tried most of the models listed here with at least 2 types of music: Hard Core/Death Metal and Harry Connick Jr. Yes you read that right, the subtle tones in his music make it a must for testing.

1. TaoTronics Active Noise Cancelling Bluetooth Headphones

If you've never heard of them I'm sure you're not alone. These headphones are an outstanding value. These TaoTronics cans are active noise cancelling over-ear Bluetooth headphones featuring 40 mm drivers.

You get a full day of battery life, swiveling earcups, a "bass heavy" tuning that still has clear mids and highs, and you can make calls over Bluetooth. With these and the prior pair (the Pwoww) we are really splitting hairs. It's almost apples to apples and I would say if you're not into the gold look, then opt for these. Same goes if you want Bluetooth.

2. Paww WaveSound 3 Active Noise Cancelling Bluetooth Headphones

Here's a very nice looking pair of active noise cancelling Bluetooth headphones with performance to match. At the time of this post they are $99.99 and have amassed over 1000 positive reviews on Amazon.

There are at the top of the price spectrum of this list and are there for a VERY good reason. If you want good looks, comfort, functionality and "sonic boom" plus dont mind dropping the $100 for these, what are you waiting for? Get 'em. Available in black, blue and white these have very effective noise cancelling and they fold for travel.

3. Cowin E7 Active Noise Cancelling Bluetooth Headphones

When considering active noise cancelling over-ear headphones there are a TON of companies that have great products. One is Cowin. These are comfortable and produce very deep bass. A charge will last up to 30 hours and that makes this deal a steal.

Unbelievably, these headphones have racked up 7000 positive reviews on Amazon at $69.99. Proof there are plenty of candidates for best noise cancelling headphones under $100, tons of these have sold. For one thing, the fit on these is as good as it gets and therefore ear fatigue is not a problem. That's why I have no reservations suggesting these to you and the 18-month warranty sweetens the deal.

4. Hbuds H1 Waterproof Bluetooth In-Ear Headphones

If you are into in-ear headphones, here's another very affordable option. Similar to the Sugar Skull in form factor, these have up to 9 hours battery life and charge in 90 minutes. They support AptX Bluetooth for superior wireless fidelity.

These are great for the gym. I am a retired pro bodybuilder and these are right up my alley; I use these all the time. I should say I PUNISH my in-ears all the time and I go through them like water! But, I've had a pair of these for some time now and these can take a beating and sound incredible the whole time.

The next wireless in-ears I pick up will be another pair of these, they are first on the list. With soft ear hooks and 3 extra pairs of spare tips in various sizes, you get a firm fit that sits well. No danger these will come loose and fall out if you are active; I sweat like mad in the gym and never had a problem.

Again, only 1.5 hours of charge and you get a full day of music. Plus you can check the battery with your mobile device, a great feature! There's a one year warranty and if you don't like 'em, a 30-day no questions asked return policy as well.

5. Pwow Over-Ear Active Noise Cancelling Headphones

These headphones look good, sound good, and come in silver or gold. They cost only fifty bucks, that's a steal! Indeed, headphones this good for this little money should be illegal (just kidding) but the looks and sound of these actually suggest headphones several times the price.

And again, they sound amazing. If your budget is about $50 and you want full-size active noise cancelling headphones, these are the ones you've been looking for. There's even a port for the removable headphone cord in each earc up, so you can choose left or right based on preference.

At the end of the day you can always get higher quality products if you spend more money on brands such as Focal, Sennheiser, and Bose. The thing is, there's really no reason to spend $1200 when you can spend under $100 and still get great quality products plus be happy with your purchase.
