I'd second ThumperBoy's recommendations and throw the cheaper, non-dvi equipped Sigma 8500 based players such as KiSS, Mecotek. There are others clones that are VERY hard to find in the USA. Whether these work for you depend alot on your display and the types of discs you like to watch.
For a machines that "just works" and handles video or film well ThumperBoys' are best. If you can benefit from the higher number of scan lines, then give the sigma players a look. I have an rp-82, but because of my tosh 50hx81's internal 480p to 540p upconvert, I benefited WAY more by going to an uprezzing sigma player.
