Hiya...

I mostly play games on my consoles but i still like a good bash on the PC... got command and conquer's latest one and its ok... it for one has a strict set of resolutions it supports...

Basically i'm looking for games that allow you to use any of the available resolutions available... my 300u is being driven at pretty darn near 1:1 res at 50hz @ 960x540 so i really want something that i can run at that res...

Any options!?? or am i stuck with old school quake, quake2 etc

I believe any Quake3 engine game allows you to set resolutions arbitrarily. Same for Unreal II / Warfare / Tournament engine games. "Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield" uses the new unreal engine, and is about the the most graphically impressive game I've seen.

To run any of these games in non-standard resolutions will require you to monkey with .inf files and such, but there's plenty of info on the web (and here) about how to do it.

Unreal Tournament 2003 is also pretty impressive, and good multiplayer to boot. There are already two official bonus map packs.

The original UT isn't quite as impressive graphically, but it's still lots of fun and worth the cash.

I have a DVD with a bootable Linux distro (Heavily modified Knoppix), UT, and UT2K3 on it, what a blast! :)
