What is the best way to get a good picture out of the AE or any other projector? Right now I have an Epson 5300 from a couple of years ago and am using S-Video. I use the projector for dish network, VHS and TV, not just DVD. Does that make a difference?

I have heard of using a HTPC... what is that? basically, what video imput maximizes the quality of picture across the board for the components I listed above?

You want a scaler/deinterlacer. Some projectors do this internally better than others, but I'm not familiar with yours. Check out the Video Processors forum.

The HTPC is using a PC as a video scaler. You get a video capture card and a program called DScaler which cleans up the image. If you want to read more about that, pop over to that forum and read the FAQ...
