Hello,

Please vote on the best subwoofer for a 2.1 computer desk top system. I would like to use a powered sub through a receiver. This will be in an apartment, but the bedroom is largish.

Size restrictions? Where is the sub going to be placed with respect to the listening position?
Underneath the desk or to the side.

Just throw anything out there. Let's be reasonable though.

That isn't in any way helpful... The starting point for good subs is the SVS PB-1000/SB-1000.

let's say 600-700 tops. size doesn't matter THAT much, but I can't be putting a 15" subwoofer under my desk.

Even better than this velodyne thing I've never heard of?

Yes. Velodyne makes great subs and has been doing it for a while, but a lot of their products fill more niche roles and in my opinion SVS offers better value.

The SVS subs will kill that Velodyne. I would go for the SB2000.
Do you think the SB-1000 would be adequate?

How large is the bedroom? Being in an apartment you probably should stick to something with less output, the SB-1000 would probably be a good compromise.

Yeah I think the SB-1000 would be great if you will be using it nearfield. SVS also has a step up program, so if you decide within a year you want more sub, they will let you apply the cost of your sub to the new one and only pay shipping.
