Best Price Cameras is a huge scam.

Placed an order for an HC1500 projector, got an email asking me to call and confirm, not unusual for a large credit card purchase. The "salesman" asked me if I wanted to add a bulb for $189.00 as the projector I bought was a "barebones" model and did not include one. What a total scam, they advertise the lowest price and then try and bait and switch you to the "normal" price. They refused to sell to me for their advertised price so I added my complaint to their hundreds on the BBB.

Lesson learned I guess. What a scam.

Yeah man. I always look for a list that says whats included.
Now I am worried they have my credit card info.....

Its obviously a setup scam, the guy argued with me when I dared question his sales tactics...

So can they sell me a DVD player and charge extra for the laser? Yes by his definition they can sell anything they want anyway they want....

Just call your card company and tell them it was lost or stolen and they will send you an new numbered card but still tied to the old account.

Should do this with any card you use on the net at least once a year anyway.

This is the father coming out in me....

Please check with BBB (or other reseller ratings site) Before you make a large ticket purchase.

Yeah my friend, who's a budding director, ran into the same thing when he was shopping around for a prosumer HD camera. Just like your example of the DVD without the laser, I think the price they quoted him was without the lens(!), and certain other things that the camera needed just to work. True to form they got real aggressive and ignorant when he accused them of unsavory tactics, but the joke was on them...because when he's not trying to be the next Kevin Smith, he's an attorney

Darn, I guess that Sony Black Pearl that they have for $2749 might not be a good deal?

I found a post in a consumer forum where a guy wanted to order a camera from this place and they asked if he wanted a battery with it for an extra charge, he declined saying he will get a battery somewhere else and they refused to sell the item.....
chargeback time...

They have plenty of company. Do yourself a favor and google their name first. You'll know immediately if they stink.
Best Price Cameras has nothing going for it - They're headquartered in Brooklyn and they have 'Camera' in their name. Any company in Brooklyn is immediately suspect - I wouldn't deal with any of them.

Jim
I was in a hurry before Christmas and hit the buy button from this place before doing my research. When I got the same response as everyone else I filed my complaint and canceled my credit card. What a hassle. Why are these guys allowed to continue to operate?
Yeah, I was looking at getting a projector from them, but I decided to check their background on resellers. They have many companies all linked together with basically the same address in Brooklyn. All the stores had bad ratings and negative feedback. Everyone had the same complaints based on the feedback.

I did not want to have the hassle, especially being from Canada. I spent a $1k more and can sleep well at night. Still a $1k less than I can get it locally.

That's a crying shame since I live in Brooklyn!

Of course it is a scam. Virtually everyone knows that the "Brooklyn" camera stores are scams. Why would you order from one of these and not a reputable dealer like a seller from this site?
Like I said lesson learned.

Obviously I didnt know or I wouldnt have ordered....
This is well-covered ground, but for those of you who have never seen them and are curious there is a website that has pictures of all these 'Brooklyn' storefronts. I posted it recently in another thread, and you should get it in a google of Brooklyn storefronts (ok, here http://donwiss.com/pictures/BrooklynStores/ ) Truly scary stuff.

Thanks for that info - I feel like going there with a few friends and pay them a "visit".

I have a ? - Why do the CC companies still do business with these guys - if they get so many complaints how do they still have accounts with the CC companies - it makes you think.

.Hey FenceMan I hope you canceled that CC and got a new # - You should ask your CC co. why they still do business with them

As a matter of fact WE should all call our CC co. and give them the info to the store and complain to them.
