the H30 sweet spot is DVDS in dark room.. the 6200 is much more versatile for all viewing.. hdtv, computer, dvd, videogames..

The H30 is supposed to be a great projector, however its gotten some pretty horrible reviews for reliability over at projectorcentral.com (1 out of 5 on average). But the light output just isn't enough for my enviroment (400-450 calibrated lumens).

I know at this point its somewhat vaporware, but keep your eyes peeled for the Screen Play 4805 (700-750 calibrated lumens). Its supposed to be pretty decent. I have one on pre-order now.

Not sure what numbers you are looking at but that site shows an average reliability rating of 4.1 out of 5 for the H30.

Crap in / Crap out - Faroudja will help, but it can't perform miracles on bad signal, and SDTV and VHS signal quality is all over the map. Combining sub-par signal and large screen, IMO it is a matter of what you'll tolerate. The PQ won't even come close to DVD. Don't set unrealistic expectation just because of the name Faroudja. People watch SDTV and VHS on other pjs, too. So, no, X1 and 4805 are not the only choices.

For DVD if your player outputs a good progressive signal Faroudja really isn't a big factor.

Woops, my fault. I guess I was just remembering from reviews like this:

"Personal Experience

My first unit had a buzzing sound, then I changed for 2nd one which got green bar problem when changing between Progressive mode and interlace. My 3rd one is working perfect, rich color and great contrast, but I am starting to see Rainbow Effect if I put subtitle on ( 480i). Anyway, I am so happy with it and I reckon this is one of the best Projector in its class.

Problems

1. Buzzing sound

2. Green bar problem

3. Rainbow Effect (sometimes)"

"Personal Experience

See below

Problems

1st one pruchased had a fault (see loss of picture and green line in previous post). 2nd one recevied had loud buzz through film and Optima picked it UP and said faulty power unit. Also had a loss of Sync on Prog Scan. Optima couldn't fix so sent new one. 3rd one received picture is blurey and still get loss of sync on Prog Scan. They sold me 10 meter cable and then Yamaha DVD S540. Fault happens with other DVD player so must be unit. Dealer not interested so will be taking this up with their head office. Poor customer service. "

Etc.
