I posted in the receiver section but no response, so I thought it would be more suited in the speaker section.

Looking for receiver to drive speakers listed below. I will be listening to mostly (in order of importance) sports, Jazz, and movies. I have looked at a few receivers and the Denon AVR 4810CI and 3310CI are on the top of my list, but I am open to suggestions. Price range for receiver is $2500.00

1. Focal Chorus 826v (front speakers)

2. Martin Logan Grotto i (Sub)

3. Focal Chorus SR 800v (Rear Channel)

4. Focal CC 800v (Center channel, BUT considering replacing w/an in-wall Paradigm or something similar)

Thanks,

Michael

A friend did extensive reserach and ended up with a Pioneer Elite SC-27 for around $1700. He is an extremely detail-oriented design engineer and I tend to trust his research and, after a little of my own, decided to get one myself (saving at the moment, or rather investing in other stuff while waiting for them to be in stock ). Denon receivers tend to have problems driving less than 8-ohm loads, which many speakers dip to (mine are currently 4-ohm nominal so that ruled out Denon). Sony, and most others, lose a lot of power when all channels are driven. I picked up an emotiva XPA-3 amp and am now using my Sony 3400 as a preamp for the fronts and center and it made a big difference. However, the Pioneer is solidly rated and gets good press for audio quality. Might be worth a look.

That or the Onkyo 5007 would push no problem. There have been some problems with the 5007, but a new firmware just came out today to fix the issues.
