Hey all I am trying to make a home theatre system. After a lot of reviewing i decided i probably shouldnt get HTIB system. I have a 50 in panny and panny blue ray and an xbox and wii. I want a reciever that does HDMI audio and video. So I need some help finding a reciever that can do this. I ahve been looking at the Pioneer VSX-519V-K 5. From everything I can see it does HDMI audio and video which is huge since I want the best I can get. Also, it has multiple zone listening which is another great thing I want so I can listen to music in say the back yard. How good is this reciever? I will probably pair it with a 5.1 setup of polks (rm6750 ) or energy 5classics. Basically i want speakers around 200 and and a reciever for 200. What do you guys think? Is this a good reciever or what else is out there for that price range and does those similar things. IT kind of sucks that it only has 2 HDMI inputs so more would be better. Thanks guys I really appreciate it.

Why not save up another $100 or so dollars and get the 819, it does hdmi audio and video, and decodes the hd audio codecs also. Plus you get auto calibration and onscreen display (even if it is only through component video).

The 519 does do HDMI audio and video. But the blu ray player had to decode the TrueHD and DTS-MA signal if you want hi def audio.

based on your $200 budget you probably cant do much better than that.

the Insignia 5101HD from best buy has 3 HDMI inputs and comes on sale for $179 and does TrueHD and DTS-MA decoding, but I don't think it has zone 2 or speaker B features whcih seems kinda important to you.

Beware that the zone 2 on the Pioneer 519, you'll need to connect another amp or receiver to use it. all it has is RCA outputs, no actual speaker connections.

I didn't say the 519 doesn't, like you said it has hdmi ports, 2 in and 1 out. You gain an extra hdmi. I also forgot to mention the ipod functionality right out of the box. I bought one because of all the positive reviews. Actually ended up returning it for a Denon 590 because of the hdmi passthrough in standby option, but I would have kept it otherwise. I do believe that the new pioneer models should be coming out soon, as it is increasingly difficult to find these in stock.

What do you mena HDMI passthrough on standby? I will look into all the recommended recievers. Thanks a ton guys. How does the pioneer compare to denon or onkyo?

Say you have a blue-ray player connected to you receiver. You can watch it even when the receiver is on standby, instead of it needing to be on.

There are reviews all over the web if you do the research, but pioneer is a good brand compared to the others you mentioned. the pioneer 1019 is considered one of the best receivers of the last year.

I actually ordered it from Best buy Online last year , in june i believe.. It was actually $229 + tax and shipping.. Debating on selling it tho, since its not a true 24p and I get judder while watching blus through my ps3..

Man all these things to consider. So what rate does it do picture. What rate is acceptable. I know my plasma is 600hz, that does have anything to do with it

not a thing.. Thats refresh rate basically. BR is made for 24 fps , and if you run a 24p signal thry a receiver that does not have the ability to play it you could have some issues.. Normal Frame rate is 60 fps
