All except the Panasonic have strength meters for OTA and they all have DD optical out. All except the RCA DTC-100 have Component outputs. The Hughes boxes (Mits, Tosh, Hughes) also have an audible strength meter which is nice when you are up on the roof and they seem to be more sensitive than the Sony. Also the Hughes boxes will give you guide info for your OTA stations if you have a dish, and I don't think you need a DirecTV subscription for it.

If you only need it for OTA, the Samsung SIR-T150 is a good choice. It has optical audio out and both RGB and component video outs. And a signal strength meter. And they are running a $100 rebate for units purchased before 8/31.

Just got mine on Thursday, hooked it up in 10 minutes, plopped a $15 Radio Shack antenna on the window sill (out of sight), and picked up all local channels no problem.

Now if there were just some HD programs to watch, other than the Young and the Restless, it might make it easier to explain the purchase to my wife and others.

Sorry, I know I have posted a similar topic, but my setup keeps changing, as I am new to HDTV. I appreciate your patience and response. Anyway, I am looking for a STB for OTA channels. It has to have Optical Digital Out and Component out (or RGB). It would also be nice if it had a signal strength meter. I have heard of some STBs having drop-outs, it would also be nice if it didn't have a history of drop-outs =).

Thanks!!!
