I know someone who can get the following subs at the following prices (avoiding saying how so they don't get in trouble and it isn't illegal). Their room is around 14x20x8 ceiling. They are still using a simple 8" 50watt rms Yamaha sub. In the 200 range, what would be best? He thinks a 12 would be better, but not sure considering the options. There are more, but these seem to fit the price / power he is looking for.

Polk Prices:
HTS 12 - $180
HTS 10 - $140 (Heard it, but thinks they need a bit more bass although it was much better than the PSW10 tested before)
DSW PRO 660 - $260 (Over budget, but considered if it is THAT much better)
DSW PRO 550 - $216

Def Tech:
Pro Sub 1000 - $200
Supercube 2000 - $240
Supercube 4000 - $320 ( way over, but looks interesting at 1200w peak)

That supercube 2000 looks very interesting considering the wife doesn't want a bunch of box. Is there anything in those ranges that would be better?

I've been looking into it a lot, and it does seem the HTS 12 is best for the money. Too bad there are not options with svs or hsu! lol

As a side note, the room is completely sealed. No open walls. Two windows that are covered with blackout curtains.
