I think you can, just go into edit and click delete in the top left corner of the original post.
How did a Servodrive sub get into space?? ;)
Damn... they caught us!!!

Time to move Tom Danley on to the next project.
The best sub I ever heard, or felt? 80Hz and below...

I like M&K, deep, solid, articulate. They splice will with the mains so you don't notice them as much.
Has no one ever heard the Bag End subs? They go down to 8Hz! and loud.

Jeff,

"How did a Servodrive sub get into space??"

As I recall some of Thomas Danley's earlier research had to do with acoustic levitation (just what it sounds like). They were competing with another firm to get their version of an experiment about the space shuttle but I don't think NASA chose their group.

audible solutions:

I used to own the BagEnd Infra subs -- in fact, two of them. They do go low BUT I found them very unsatisfactory for movies (but very good for music).

In my room, they lacked IMPACT. In fact the dealer I bought them from got rid of the line for the same reason.

Just my opinion.
S owas this Black hole properley placed in the "CORNER" of the galaxy?

Your the second person I know that had 2 Infra's. I don't believe the other guy ever mentioned them lacking in either the HT or Music departments though. In fact, I remember reading an article about subs and if a sub could be good for both HT and music. The article referenced the Bag ends as one of the few that could.

Speaking of big bass......I just re-watched Gladiator (DTS) last night and With new subs I noticed a killer bass note that seemed the most potent of the movie (in terms of low frequency and volume).

It was in the final Coliseum battle as the Emperor (Phoenix), pulls a dagger out from his forearm hiding place to lunge at Maximus.

Knocked my socks off! Very potent and potentially system damaging.

I noticed in an old search of Gladiator, that Steve Bruzonsky referenced this scene in a thread discussing amplifier clipping and subwoofers.

I wasn't ever able to hear it prior or endanger my old subs as they were unable to resolve under 30 hz. I am finding deep bass in places I have never heard before. Fun stuff

" posted by Jeff>>>Very potent and potentially system damaging", thats what is all about. Ear damaging, system damaging, speaker damaging it's all about having the headroom and limiting the clipping.
Exactly!
Mark,

BTW, I had a ContraBass question for you. I'm building a new room (fairly smallish) and will probably be building a sort of alcove in one of the side walls for the CB to hide in.

The plan was to have the radiators face the side walls in the alcove. Any recommendation on how much space to leave between the side walls and the radiators so I don't effect their tuning? As a side bonus since the unit will be hidden I don't have to worry about the grills in case you guys do come out with longer throw passive radiators. (Hint...hint....)

ContraBASS ServoDrive
Shawn,

5-8" per side is just fine. Durock or similar masonite board, and/or Baltic Birch ply work very well for such construction. I'll have to find the pictures of Anthony Andelon's built in ContraBass, the same as you are describing.

It wasn't intentioned to hijack the thread, but if you are looking for a place to talk shop and general fun about the ServoDrive & Sound Physics Labs products, we can post questions and answers galore at our new Discussion forum where we won't be adding to the noise level here at AVS. It should be linked from our website by tomorrow, but until then, it has been made live and functional.
