I'm in the process of building a MythTV setup and I'm looking for a video card. My TV is a Toshiba 30HF83 (30" HD, has component, s-video and DVI.)


I currently have an extra Radeon 7500 w/DVI out so I was thinking about hooking up to the TV with DVI, but I'm leary about sending it a wrong resolution or refresh rate and damaging the set.


What video card and connection method should I use?

I would go with DVI. Forget about S-Video altogether, if you have an HD set you will need to use either component or DVI. Do some research, find some modelines and verify that they are within spec for your set. If you want to be extra safe, boot up a copy of windows (I know...) and run powerstrip and choose from some of the preset HD configs then grab the modeline it generates. The increased picture quality over s-video is all worth it in the end.
