Best Video Card for HTPC use? (no gaming)

I know everyone is using the integrated graphics these days but I'm thinking of upgrading my current gaming PC and using that as the basis for a HTPC build. So I'll need a video card.

I would like to bitstream over HDMI. Don't really need 7.1 right now, but I'd like the capability.

So are there any standout cards that will do this with no problems? Seems like all of them have HDMI these days but I know that not all work well for HTPC use.

3D or no 3D?
Don't care about 3D, I'm not a fan and my projector doesn't do it anyway.

My current video card is a Radeon HD 6870, which I'm sure would be fine. But I'm keeping that in my gaming machine. And it's a full length, double width card with a fairly noisy fan.
I would go with a NVidia 430 or 440 if I were you.
I'd get a fanless Radeon HD 6570 (Sapphire and HIS come to mind), seems to be the best fanless solution you get right now, in addition, it doesn't require an auxiliary PCIe power cable.
Sorry, but have a quick question here.

NVidia 4xx and HD 6xxxx, which one is better (price/performance) for a HTPC (no games)?

Thanks.
Personally, I think the NVidia drivers are better and more stable.

But many have had no issues with ATI drivers. I guess I am just unlucky.

That is the question:

Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer

The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
