Best way to connect my gear - NOOB question -

I just bought my first HDTV 2 weeks ago (samsung5084), and this week I bought the onkyo 605 receiver + 5.a JBL venue series speakers. I havent received my receiver yet but I have all of my speakers.


I want to know the best way to connect my gear, I only have my xbox 360 Elite and my HD cable box. I have all cables here, optical, hdmi 1.3 etc. I want to have the best sound possible and no click when I changed channels etc.


One last question, on my subwoofer (JBL SUB10 venue) and my onkyo receiver there are more thant one options, ins and outs to connect the subwoofer, wich is the best?
