Hi,

I am hoping I can get some help. I am trying to put together a whole house (floor) audio system, before I wire. This system will be hooked up to a simple CD changer for background music. It will run about 12 pairs of 8 ohm speakers with between 75-100 watts RMS ratings in/ceiling/wall/outdoors.

Has anyone put this together before? I am looking at a Russound 12 channel amp at 54 WPC at 8 ohms or a Gemini DJ 2 channel amp with 540 wats per channel at 8 ohms, but a whole lot of speaker wiring acrobatics.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Joseph

I can only speak for wiring as I've not yet purchased the Russound CA6.4 system but hopefully in a couple months.

As aways everything is home-run back to a central location, our home theater in this instance. I had CAT-5 run from the HTS to a single gang box in each room. This was done in case I wanted a system like the Russound CA6.4 which has keypads with some power and IR repeating. Also, a run of speaker wire from the HT to the same single gang box as the CAT-5, then to my proposed speaker locations. By running the speaker wire this way I could also opt for the inexpensive yet simple volume controls.

I have ten locations wired this way all returning to the HT. If you say it sounds like a large bundle of unlabeled http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/redface.gif wires you'd be correct. I've been thinking about a patch panel in the HT cabinet (which hasn't been built yet) to help coordinate the wires.

You seem to already have some of the components thought out, but you can also read this thread which discussed some mid-range(?) systems with a couple expensive ones tossed in as well.

Hope this helps somewhat...
