I have been searching all over for discrete codes for my Mitsubishi WD-65638 TV. I have tried some of the codes from remotecentral.com with no luck and have also tried some other codes in the URC database and they also didn't work. I keep reading all over that Mitsubishi uses the same discrete codes for all of their TVs, but I don't seem to be having the same luck. I have also read some forums that say you can force the Mitsu remote to use discrete codes by pressing a combination of buttons, but my remote must be different than the ones they are referring to.

Does anyone know where I can dig up the codes for the WD-65638 so I can program my MX-850? I am sure any of the codes for the recent Mitsu DLPs will work, but I cannot seem to find any recent (2009-2010) posts with these codes.

Thanks,

Shane

Good luck with this journey, I have been programming for many years and Mitsubishi factory remotes do have discretes built in. However good luck finding the information to get those codes out of the remote.

I used to have the sheet for it but it has been misplaced over the years. You can call Mitsubishi but 99% of them over there have no idea what you will be talking about.

If you have access to another type of remote or library of IR codes you can try learning them. Also try generic Mitsubishi codes for on and off, HDMI though may be a different issue.

Good Luck!

The good news is that I primarily need the ON/OFF codes. Right now, everything is going through a single HDMI input from my receiver, so if I find the discrete on and off codes it should hold me over. I am not sure if I need other functionality from my TV once I start using 3D, but I will worry about that when I come to it. I guess I am going to just continue trying generic Mitsubishi codes for ON/OFF until something works, I just hate turning a DLP TV on and off several times because it probably isn't good for the lamp.

From what I am hearing it sounds like the 638 series (and C10) do not support discrete codes at all so having access to the Harmony database might not be helpful in this case. I still think that is really hard to believe, but I have had 3 different people tell me that now. Does anyone have access to the Harmony database to confirm that the WD-65638 doesn't show up at all?

Thanks,

Shane

It is in the harmony database, but there are no discretes in there. I looks like just the functions on the remote. That's not definitive though because the harmony database is built from user submitted learns.

If you can confirm at least one of those pronto hex codes does something, you can do a brute force search by trying all 255 yourself. If there are any discretes, you'll find them.

I am probably going to have to resort to the brute force approach. I did speak to a dealer that claims to have the codes for the C10 series, so I am going to contact him today and see if he truly has them and if they work for the 638. I have my fingers crossed, but am not too optimistic.

Nope, I never found them and it drives me crazy. The other problem is that the IR sensor for the TV is behind the screen so using my URC MX-850 is very difficult.
