I use an external digital cable box on my Hitachi SWX RPTV. What is the best way to get PIP (Picture-In-Picture).
When the set was first delivered, I plugged regular cable into Ant A, and it worked perfectly. Then the cable man came out, installed the digial box to Ant A and left. No PIP. I called Hit support, and was told that Ant A is the dual tuner, and since it's getting it's feed from the external tuner (digital cable box), this wouldn't work.
So, with cable splitter, now Ant A is straight cable, and Ant B is the digital cable box. Now I have PIP. However, I don't have some of the extra PIP features like "scan channels."
So the HIT guy suggested that I plug the digial cable box into one of the other video inputs. Then everything would work the way I want it to, with all the features.
What do you think?
(As an aside, he also said to run either s-video or composite video out of the digital cable box, instead of the coax. Any recommendations about this from anyone?)
