Drywall Ceiling. I'll add a picture of the room
Drywall Ceiling
I was hoping it would be drop then you could just drop the wire behind the wall down to your speaker and run the wire up top around the perimeter to your AVR location. Do you have baseboards in the room or crown molding around the perimeter up top? How handy are the members of the householder? You can remove baseboards insert speaker wire into the wall hiding the wiring behind the speaker. Pull speaker wire back through where the baseboard was previously. Router channels into the center the back side of the baseboards . Attach speaker wires into the channels. Reattach baseboards making sure you don't damage the speaker wires. You can do the same with crown molding.

You can pull the baseboard trim and install wire behind it..

If you need it to go up a wall you can drill two half inch holes (one at the bottom and one where you need it (as long as they are in the same plane)) and vacuum a string from one hole to the other and then fish the wire up the wall from the baseboard..

Crap video, but you get the idea.. I like to pull the string into the wall then tie it off to the cable...

I would hide it in the baseboards if it were me.

Yes the baseboards. I know it requires work but it seems like you have a continuous run to your AVR.

Honestly you can probably tuck the wires under the bottom of the baseboard between the wall and carpet.. There is usually a gap there and no need to remove them..

Another less destructive option is to pull back the carpet from the wall and put the wires between the tack strips and the padding. I used to do that in apartments all the time and just kick the carpet back in place..

I ended up being able to take the rug but and put the wire next to the nail board for the rug. I used a wire hider for the other side. Turned out nice. I'll post pictures
Baseboards doesn't seem like a viable option. I'd just make your rears wireless. There are modules for that.

even if my speakers aren't wireless?

They do sell wireless modules, but I would question their reliability and quality.. Stick to wired..
Sometimes wired rears are not feasible.
If your rears are in the middle of a large open concept room in a basement with concrete floors, for example.

SVS makes ones that get good reviews. I'm sure there are cheaper ones that would work well also. Keep in mind that fidelity for the rears is not as crucial as the front soundstage, not that you'd notice a difference with the wireless modules.

Which way do the rafters run?
Based on the location of the 2 posts and the length of the room, my educated guess would be perpendicular to the drop ceiling...so up and over won't likely work (easily).
