Best way to set up dual output on NVidia FX5xxx

I've just spent several hours looking through all the NVidia and ATI vs NVidia threads to get a feel as to how the FX5xxx card perform in the HCPC roll. The only point I have not found covered is how best to set up output to dual displays [DVI to a TFT Monitor and VGA to a Sanyo Z1 in my case]. When I have used Radeon card I have always found the best solution is to extend the desktop onto the second display, set that to the 1:1 custom resolution with Powerstrip and then drag the application into the windows and maximise it [ZP / PowerDVD etc]. I have been happy with this as it allows the TFT and Z1 to be working at the same time.

If I was to use a NVidia FX5700 or FX5900XT would I set up an extended desktop in the same way? I know you can create custom resolution in the latest NVidia drivers, are there any issues using these custom settings to drive the extended desktop while using a standard [1280x1024] resolution for the primary?

Finally, is there a better way of doing it!!!

Thanks for your time:)
