My speakers are Vienna Acoustics Beethoven. From a music-only perspective, are two-channel integrated amps (e.g. Musical Fidelity A300 or YBA Integre DT, etc) *really* that much better sonically than a Onkyo 989 or Denon 5800?

Thanks,

Andrew

I'd say quite likely due to the absence of all the digital processing circuitry if nothing else. It must be said that the flagship receivers do have massive power capacity for stereo usage.

Personally, I'd go for a non-flagship receiver and a stereo integrated (or stereo prepower combination) amp unless multichannel SACD or DVD-A is essential.
