Beware dropping comcast

1222 Views 10 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  spyder696969
Comcast is sticking it to me.

I have comcast basic, which I don't use anymore, and comcast high speed internet. My monthly bill is $57.

I called yesterday to drop the cable portion to lower my bill. The guy tells me if I drop the cable service my monthly bill would go to $59.

I wish there were another high speed option - I'd dump comcast all together.

You can always threaten to go to DSL. They dropped my monthy cable modem to $29.99.

There is no DSL in my area and they know it.
Let's see you have HSD at $59 and basic at $8, for subscribing to both they are giving you a $10 discount. You want to drop the basic AND keep the bundling discount and they are sticking it to you? I don't see your logic.!?

I just wish I could get decent HSD at ANY price. :)

You don't see my logic? I have to pay $56 per month for high speed internet service...I'd say that's sticking it to me.

I haven't used their cable service in years.
Yes, that's how it's been for a while. They're charging you more for internet alone, rather than internet and basic cable. Neither of these things apply to this forum.
they charge $10 more for non-subscribers imho because they can and because you'd still be getting the channels. they can't filter out "tv" from the "internet".

as you've been made aware it's a better deal to keep bare-bones "basic" w/o a box if you have cable internet

Does someone have a gun to your head?

Bundling discounts, fact of life.

I pay $60 a month for Direcway HSD, after forking out $600.00 for hardware.

DirecTV offers me NO discount for having both services.

I'm sure you could find dial-up at $5-10 per month.

Find something real to B***ch about

They most certainly CAN filter the TV channels out.

Whether they choose to is another issue :D

Sounds like a good deal to me. The lower price of DSL is only attrractive to people who have never had DSL. You aren't taking advantage of your high speed connection if you're not using VOIP.

Economic bundles are generally Cable modem, Cable TV and VOIP or a telco bundle(DSL and POTS) with satellite TV.

By "bundle" I don't mean that you purchase all services from one provider. I mean you combine all communications in a way to maximize value. I pay comcast a rather high $60 a month for high speed internet, but my total house phone bill is $15/month.

If you check the web often , there are sites (not Comcast.net) that have special offers for new CC customers. I saw one, called and told CC it was a load of sh*# that existing customers, like myself didn't get that deal. Now I pay $20 per month for high speed internet that beats the living bejeezus out of barely better than dial up DSL. Keep your eyes open, and there are ways to save out there.
