The BG Radia R18i speakers seem very similar to the Martin Logan Vignette speakers. Has anyone compared them?

Sorry Peter, I have not been back on the forum in a while.
Yes, the R-18 and R-17 use planar ribbon drivers and would be an ideal complement for ribbons or electrostatics. The R-18i was introduced several years ago but is still an excellent speaker for the money.
I believe it is still the only speaker with a rotating ribbon.
When it was introduced, the R-18i won several awards and got great reviews. You can see them on their website.
Hope this helps.

phoaglan,
Thanks for the feedback. It sounds like the BG Radia R-18i speakers would make good plasma speakers or even better surround speakers, correct?

The 18i was designed as a surround speaker, I wouldn't use it as a LCR. The 17i is meant for mounting around a plasma or LCD. With the grille on the 18i, it actually looks like a cylinder on your wall. They are excellent surround speakers and the ability to angle the ribbon is pretty slick. We have them on display with the R500 L and R as well as the R320 center. The 18i blend very well with them.

Need4spdnb,
Thanks for the feedback.
Have you compared them to any speakers from Martin Logan? If so, how do they compare?

Martin Logan doesn't have an onwall like the 18i, so I can't comment on that. How well do BG speakers integrate with Martin Logan, very well. My co worker has some Martin Logan towers and he uses BG speakers as surrounds and he thinks the blending is terrific.
