I turned on my BG800 tonight and saw in the lower right hand corner:

I2C error

There was probably some other verbiage with it, but it was hard to see because the words were mostly off my screen and quite distorted because the refresh was so far off.

I powered the unit off, calmed down for a few moments and tried it again and it was back on just fine. I ran it for an hour or so and it ran perfectly.

The only thing out of the ordinary in this situation was that I had my stereo on which has a tube based CD player and amplifier which draws a lot of power and is on the some circuit. I turned the stereo off before powering it back on.

Any ideas what the problem might be and if this is indicative of problems to come??

Reseat the main convergence board under the lenses with teh main power plug pulled. You might have a chip that is going bad if that error comes back, or a bad solder joint.

Those boards are the most difficult to repair on the 800...
